Cassie Luftspring, Artistic Director

Cassie Luftspring is a versatile choral conductor, composer, soprano, and pianist. In addition to her position with BCGC, she is the Director of Choral Studies at the Vancouver Academy of Music, and a Teaching Artist with Vancouver Opera. She has held conducting positions with several other organizations, including the Vancouver Youth Choir, Vancouver Children’s Choir, Toronto Children’s Chorus, Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley, Pacifica Singers, Mississauga Festival Youth Singers, Cantabile Choirs of Kingston, and University of Toronto Women’s Chamber Choir and Men’s Chorus, among others.

As a professional choral singer, Cassie is a soprano section leader with the Vancouver Bach Choir, and has performed with various local groups including musica intima and Players and Singers, with Bay Area chamber choir Convivium, and with the University of Toronto Schola Cantorum. A seven-time winner of the Amadeus Choir’s Songwriting Competition, her compositions and arrangements have been commissioned and performed by ensembles throughout North America. A recipient of numerous academic awards, including the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship (SSHRC), Ontario Graduate Scholarship, and Fellowship in Music, Cassie holds a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Toronto, and a degree in piano and composition from Queen’s University.
 

Eric Hominick, Collaborative Pianist

Eric Hominick studied piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music under Reginald Godden, and with William Tritt at Dalhousie University, before pursuing a voice degree there. He was hired by Jon Washburn in 1983 to accompany his choirs at Vancouver Community College, where he has remained on staff for over 35 years, currently playing for choirs and the classical voice department there.

In addition to VCC, Eric has been on the music faculty at Douglas College (New Westminster) and the TOOBA Physical Theatre Centre; singer and pianist with Vancouver Chamber Choir; regular accompanist for Elektra Women’s Choir, British Columbia Girls Choir and Vancouver Children’s Choir; and rehearsal pianist for Vancouver Cantata Singers and Vancouver’s SummerChor program. He remains in demand as rehearsal pianist for choirs throughout Vancouver and the surrounding regions.

Eric also teaches voice and piano; is an arranger, bass soloist, rehearsal and show pianist comfortable in a wide range of musical styles, cruise ship entertainer, and more.
